What makes a father? Is it simply producing/begetting a child? Or is it something a little more?
We have roles in our society, and the role of “father” is pivotal to the development of the next generation. A father is called to be the head of the household, protect and guide the family, and provide for it. He is to be an example of Christ to his children, to be the standard of right and wrong. But nowhere in this description does it specify that a father is simply the sire of children. A father can be a figure who stands in the gap to teach right from wrong and be an example. In our world, we need our fathers now more than ever.
There is another Father that we all need, who guides us, protects us, and provides for us. In Psalm 103:13 we read, “As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.” Our Heavenly Father sees us, guides us, and loves us as we are His children. In this time, don’t only look to the flesh and the worldly people who are influencing you, but find peace and hope in your creator. The one who made you and breathed life in you will always protect and provide for His children.
