Are you hesitant about sharing your faith?

Sharing the Gospel with others can often be met with negativity, leaving us with a feeling of rejection. Paul and Barnabas were met with the same negativity and rejection when they shared Christ in Antioch and Iconium.

Though they shared their faith with many believers, Jew and Gentiles alike, many slandered Paul and Barnabas. There was even a mob that chased

them out of town (Acts 13:13-14:2). John the Baptist gave us a heads up about this phenomenon when he described what Jesus was coming to do. He said: “His winnowing fan is

in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor and gather His wheat into the barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” Matt 3:12-14.

John was describing “the sorting and separating work” of the Gospel. Like winnowing grain, the Gospel of Christ does the work of dividing our listeners into groups of both believers and unbelievers. Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel “of Christ, for it is the power of God and salvation for everyone who believes.”

After earning the right to be heard by developing a relationship with our friends, let’s unleash this power and let it do its work. Some may reject the Gospel or even us. That is what is supposed to happen.
