If you were to stop right now and look at your surroundings, would you be afraid of the storm, or would you speak peace to it?
Many people in the world are in the midst of a storm. We know that being Christ's followers means we will be met with persecution (2 Timothy 3:12). In scripture we see persecution meaning death and tribulations for following Jesus. As we near the end of all things, the storms are changing and the battles are becoming less natural and more spiritual. However, we can rest assured there is still going to be peace in the storm.
In Mark, the disciples are on the boat with Jesus who is sleeping. Suddenly a storm overtakes them and they become afraid. They were in the midst of a storm, just like we are today. Jesus maintained peace in the storm in verse 39 “…He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.” In dealing with His disciples the comment was “How is it that you have no faith?” How do we maintain our faith and peace in the storm?
Ways to keep at peace in the storm.
Walk in the light
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
Live your life God-focused. Keeping your eyes on Him will help you walk in peace in your storm. As He spoke peace to the waves, so can you. If we can maintain our faith in the one who saves, we will have nothing to fear. The Creator need not be restless in the face of a dangerous creation, and we can rest assured knowing our God will cover and protect us. Be persistent
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labour is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
If we can be immovable, we will be able to stay in peace. Persistently seeking Him and His Kingdom, we can do what we are called, even amidst the storm.
Ingest the Word
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16
When we maintain our study of the Word, we are able to strengthen and deepen our roots of faith. When we take time to read the Bible and spend time with Our Father we will be able to stay in a posture of peace in the storm.
Jesus is our prince of peace. He came to give us something so precious, and we only need to ask for it. In Romans 8:37 we read, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. We can conquer any storm because Jesus has left us His peace. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. Keep peace in the storm by reaching for the peace Jesus gave us.
That was dated back in October 2023 Daylon wrote this article! Today Oct 7, 2024 I am still trying to locate Daylon Clark to respond to my question dated August 10, 2024 where my author’s hub and Yairus Publishing site went dark. For a professional person and especially a Christian, it is our duty to clear the air and guide people back from the wilderness (where my book published by Yairus is now stuck in the Internet wilderness). Daylon you have my email and my phone #, please correspond. I hope to hear from you, soon.
